Fix Our Healthcare System

Oregon has spent decades building toward something most states only dream about: a healthcare system where almost everyone is covered. In 2025, we achieved a 98% insurance coverage rate. The best rate in the nation. We made it a priority because Oregonians understood something fundamental. We all benefit when everyone can see a health care provider. And we all pay more when they can't — in emergency room visits, in charity care, in hospital rates that climb to cover the uncompensated costs that get passed right back to the rest of us.

That's why Roy believes Oregon will be the first state in the nation to achieve universal healthcare. The reform efforts of the last three decades have been valiant, and they've gotten us further than almost anyone else. But in the end these reforms have been Band-Aids on a broken system. It's time to build something better. Oregonians know how it's supposed to work. Roy will fight to make sure we get it done.

And when it comes to the most personal healthcare decisions — the ones made in exam rooms, in difficult moments, in consultation with doctors and the people we love — Roy believes those decisions belong to patients and their doctors. Not to politicians. Not to insurance companies. Not to a government that has never met you and doesn't know your life. Abortion is healthcare. Roy will fight to keep it that way here in Oregon.
